The first version of the
Apg classification, Apg1, was published in 1998. There were still many families and orders that had no certain place in the classification. They are placed in basal groups like
Eudicots basal, Eurosids basal.
Typical is the use of new terms for highers clades, such as monocots, eudicots, rosids, asterids. Another typical aspect is that those higher clades are not specified in terms like Class, subclass and the like.
