1.7 Element TheoryA basic tool in this book is the Element
Theory as explained in "
Homeopathy and the Elements". The differentiation between the various
Lanthanides has been done for the most part with the help of the
Stages. This made it necessary to differentiate the
Stages as such more precisely and clearly. It helped me in finding the finer subtleties of the
Stages.
Element
TheoryThe
Element theory uses the periodic table of elements to classify the remedies of the Mineral Kingdom. The 7 rows are called series:
1.
Hydrogen series: Hydrogen and
Helium2.
Carbon series: elements
Lithium to
Neon.
3.
Silicon series: elements Natrum to
Argon4.
Iron series: elements
Kalium to
Krypton.
5.
Silver series: elements
Rubidium to
Xenon.
6.
Gold series: elements
Caesium to
Radon.
Lanthanides are part of this.
7.
Uranium series: elements
Francium to
Plutonium and further.
The columns are called
Stages and numbered 1 to 18, starting from left to right. They are called stages because they are stages in a development.
On the premise that the series are presenting a theme or problem, the
Stages are indicating how the theme is handled. For more details I refer you to "
Homeopathy and the Elements". Tables at the end of this book give the essential information.
Lanthanides and StagesThe
Stages of the
Lanthanides are in sequence after
Barium.
Barium is
Stage 2.
Lanthanum follows
Barium in the Periodic Table and so is
Stage 3,
Cerium is
Stage 4,
Praseodymium Stage 5 and so forth till
Lutetium Stage 17. The tables at the end of the book show this correspondence.
Hafnium comes after
Lutetium but starts in a new row and is
Stage 4. In a way one can say that all the
Lanthanides are in
Stage 3 in the
Gold series. But the differentiation is like a new process of the 18 stages. That's why they are depicted as a separate row, although they are part of the
Gold series. It is as with fractals: the pattern in large repeats itself in the small. The process of the 18
Stages that we see in the
Gold series is again present in the differentiation of the
Lanthanides.
ValuePeople have been asking me how I see the value of the Element
Theory, for the Mineral Kingdom in particular and homeopathy in general. Or they have raised doubts about the value or legitimacy of the theory. To address the theoretical discussion about its legitimacy I've written the Chapter "
Homeopathy and
Science".
The practical value of the Element
Theory has improved a lot over the years since it was first published in 1996. It turned out to be a valuable and especially reliable tool. Only details have been changed and particularly refined.
Whereas I used it then in part of my cases, I now use it all the time. It has become a frame of reference that exceeds the Mineral Kingdom. The themes of the
Series and
Stages can be applied in all cases and to all remedies, including from Plant and Animal
Kingdoms. The themes of the
Series and
Stages are universal and cover the whole scope of human experience.
Added to this. The
Element theory makes it much easier to go into the depth of cases and remedies. It helps to find the essence and this makes homeopathy much more fun, at least for me. It makes the application of homeopathy much simpler. And one can find and handle many remedies, many more than with the "old" methods.
Homeopathy has changed from "symptom gathering " into "problem analysis".
Comparison Element Theory and "Old homeopathy"With the "Old homeopathy" most of the time I had the feeling of working in a mist: sometimes a symptom passed by that I knew and I had to grab it fast in order not to get lost. With the Element
Theory I feel I have a map that tells me where I'm going.
When one compares the remedies with the world and homeopathy with a map of the world, then the "Old homeopathy" looks like a map of Holland and the Element
Theory is a map of Europe. The "Old homeopathy" is correct, but severely limited.
