Case by Jan Scholten.
Case: child, 5 years old, autism. His speech went down, he lost words, only utters sounds, no words. His understanding is better than his speech. Speech therapy helps him in communicating via pictures on a tablet. He is closed off in own world, making no contact. His motor developmental was delayed, walking and crawling late.
Toilet training difficult. He often pees in his trousers, and doesn’t want to have stool in toilet. He needs to go with parents to toilet, or wear nappy.
In his pregnancy his mother got palpitations from the stress. She kept on working until very late in the pregnancy, feeling pressured by her boss. She got hypertension with proteins in her urine, swollen feet and ankles, hot flushes, and pre-ecclampsy. His intra-uterine growth was restricted.
Therefore the doctors decided for a Caesarian section. He was born very small. He was placed in intensive care and after that her had fright reactions, was weak and sensitive. He was fed with artificial milk as his mother had hardly any breast milk. He wanted the breast at night, though. The artificial milk gave rise to digestive problems.
As a baby he had pneumonia, and many antibiotics. But he was happy could laugh and made eye contact. At two month he got an operation ton his tight tongue ligament. His muscle tension was very low which was treated with physiotherapy. At month seven he was operated on an inguinal hernia. At month twelve he was operated for phimosis. After that he became depressed, clinging, stopped laughing, and became autistic. He was moving his head to alternating sides. He became sensitive to noise, especially the crying of children.
He had violent febrile seizures, with 40° fever, stiffness, clenched jaw, biting his tongue, and his eyes rolled upwards. A lumbar punction did not show anything special. His EEG is normal.
His mother is sensitive, hard-working, ambitious, scientific, and does yoga. She is sensitive and empathic, but cannot feel her own emotions. She was never taught how to handle emotions, and never received praise from his parents. Her father was very strict, intellectually ambitious, depressed and had no emotional connection with his children. This is the pattern in the whole family of mother's side. As a child his mother admired her father, but as a teenager she hated him, when she found out he gave no emotional support. She felt abandoned by him when he went abroad, and developed nightmares.
He hides himself when his brother is loud. His brother is also autistic, but intelligent.
He is mostly nice, cheerful, and friendly, but absent. He can laugh strangely. He is anxious with contacts. He is seldom angry, but can beat people when he is distressed. He is happy at school, in a very small group of non-verbal children. He laughs, and likes them, but only looks at them, does not play with them.
He is hyperactive, doing headstands to the wall. He has an addiction for strings, playing with them and chewing on them. His motor developmental was delayed, walking and crawling late. Fine motions like drawing and writing are still problematic.
He was diagnosed with
Giardia lamblia, borreliosis, intesinal parasites.
Genetic test: mutation SHD8.
Sleep: disturbed, wakes at 2 am, 3 am, needs to be cuddled.
Food: he is picky with food, prefers bland food.
He is on a diet without gluten, sugar and dairy products.
AnalysisThe autism and retardation are strong indications for
Pteridophyta.
Pteridophyta: autism; strict, hard.
The retardation also points to
Carbon series, with a lack of speech and understanding. The problems of toilet training strengthen the themes of the
Carbon series.
Carbon series, 3-422.00.00,
Lycopodiidae: incontinent; toilet training difficult; speech delayed; cannot stand the crying of children.
The epilepsy is a strong indication for
Phase 7. It is confirmed by the mother feeling abandoned, the boy’s problems during pregnancy and being underweight. Hysteria fits too with
Phase 7, being out of control.
Phase 7, 3-422.17.00,
Selaginellaceae: closed off, in his own world; intensive care; febrile seizures.
Stage 2, 3-422.17.02,
Selaginella kraussiana: not violent; fright reactions; weak; clinging; hiding.
Prescription:
Selaginella kraussiana, 3-422.17.02.
Follow upAfter
Selaginella kraussiana MK he starts doing better. His speech is better, says mamma for example. His speech therapy has more effect. He still has some tics in shoulders. He is sometimes anxious, but not hysterical anymore. He is easier in contact. He is more flexible, fro instance in giving things back. He has better control over his stool, and goes to toilet at school to urinate. Everything is going better. His Quality of life went from 50 to 75.
After six months he has ameliorated much further in his speech and contacts.
In the past he was treated with
Phosphorus 7 times,
Arsenicum album 4 times, Belladonna 2 times, Tarentula 1 time,
Silicea 10 times,
Kalium carbonicum 4 times,
Mercurius solubilis 3 times,
Veratrum album 3 times,
Datura stramonium 2 times, Anica montana 2 times,
Aconitum napellus 2 times,
Artemisia cina 1 time,
Sulphur 15 times, Pulsatilla 3 times,
Calcium carbonicum 5 times, Tuberculinum 6 times, Ingnatia amara 6 times, Nux vomica 1 time, mostly with no or temporary effects.
Microgramma vaccinifolia, Cheilanthus lanosa, Pellea rotundifolia,
Dryopteris oreades,
Asplenium scolopendrium gave partial ameliorations.
