BotanyProtonema globular or lamentous Acro-, rarely cladocarpous. Central strand, Pseudoparaphyllia present. Costa usually absent. Capsule immersed or exserted Annulus absent. Peristome usually absent. Spore ger- mination exo- or endosporic Calyptra cucullate, smooth, glabrous.
