Petunia integrifolia
Remedy code: 3-665.73.06
Boy 10 years old, treated regularly as a child for acute complaints, asthma, eruptions, fever, and ear infections. Since going to school he has become more explosive, very severe earache, a big mouth and screaming, an angry temper, smashing doors, throwing pillows or toys, and kicking furniture, it is a whirlwind, and wakes up bouncing. He is around you non-stop and draws you blank for attention, he hears every tap and sound and gets angry about it. Meanwhile, he is a good guy, always helping, sweet, not naughty, in his own thoughts, and talks often in a weird voice as in a cartoon, mostly when criticized or asked to explain his behavior. Makes waving movements with arms, wiggling, worse before an exciting party, bouncing. Many warts on his fingers and feet, has wide pupils, sensitive to critics very much, and makes noises to attract attention, everything is much worse after to little sleep, and a lot of playing the "buffoon", he can freak out. Never sits still, not at the table while eating, not at school, not at the consultation, always moving from his chair, legs like rubber bands. Parents are very understanding, and compassionate but set clear boundaries. Pregnancy was good, but his mother had a lot of pain due to pelvic instability and kept this severe pain for years.
Analysis
the ‘extreme’ in the behavior is an indication of the Solanaceae, think at rubrics as severe anger (Belladonna), gestures fluttering (Stramonium), speech affected, and pupils dilated. It was always striking that the child could challenge, very controlled, looking at how far he could go, seen in his eyes that it was a play, the strange voice can be interpreted as a ‘desire to hide’. Temporary improvements after Kola nitida, Mygale lasiodora, Theobroma cacao, given because of many Malvales characteristics, the voice, the sensitivity. Molybdenum did nothing, although there are many characteristics, the remarkable voice and clowning. Searched therefore for a stage 6 remedy within the Solanales.
At the time of this prescription, Qjure did not yet exist, but now Q-search gives three possibilities at stage 6: filters 6 5.70.06 shows Brugmansia, Belladonna, and Petunia.
From previous case histories, Petunia integrifolia fits well, Brugmansia cases have much more of a veil about it, a mildness that comes across almost as scattered or sometimes ethereal, Belladonna is straightforward, much more direct. Good to realize how differently Stage 6 can play out within the frameworks of Phase and subphase, a stage you also can see as a "theme," as I name de abstraction of the classes en phases. Also, the stage can be both the incriminating factor, causal or the resolving factor.
Within the Solanales, based on previous case histories, Petunia has been prescribed
Prescription: Petunia integrifolia C200
Follow up
After four weeks of Petunia integrifolia C200: no more tantrums, no more anger, the warts on the feet that had been there for two years are gone quickly, on the hands they are mostly gone and disappear later, he is more busy and more mobile, restlessness in his body, talks sometimes still with a strange voice. Had a nightmare once. No longer in his own little world but interferes with everything. Medication was repeated after four and after ten months when the restlessness increased again. Now self-reports "I'm busy in my head," still constantly moving and nail-biting.
Two years later he goes to high school, then gets flu with dizziness, and clashes very much with his father. The independence of class 6, still searching for his place of Phase 3, brought me to Cichorium intibus, the similarity in CubPhase 3 and stage 6 has been decisive here. With a follow-up prescription: always search if there is a better drug, repeat only if there is not. Similarity in theme, either class, phase, subPhase or stage often can be guiding in a follow-up prescription. Cichorium gave a good response, flu quickly over and well in his behavior.
Petunia integrifolia seems to fit well with general Solanales characteristics.
Petunia characteristics till now:
hotheaded, angry, very agile, very affectionate, unable to sleep alone, constipation and even fear of defecating, obsessions or compulsive neurosis, mother in great pain during and or after pregnancy, seeing and feeling everything like a sponge sucking it in, emotions are extreme, possibly also as hormonal activated labor. Stage 6 can be seen in clownish behavior (as we know Molybdenum), being judged or performing (as we know Chromium).
