A woman of 50 years of age has had migraine since her puberty. The pain is pounding, going from her vertex to the temples, one-sided. Its starts with yawning and lasts mostly about 48 hours. With it she has pain in her neck, cold feet and sometimes nausea and vomiting. It’s more often after an evening party with wine. It’s better from pressure and lying on the painful side, worse from turning her head to the right. It was worse from the Dianette contraceptive pill. It’s worse from stress in her work as a teacher.
The migraines started at 20, the first time after trouble with her mother. Her mother was very demanding, especially of her as the oldest and only unmarried child out of 6. Her mother wanted to be more independent, instead of getting 6 children and being dominated by her husband. Her mother is jealous of the freedom that she has, her job as a teacher. As a child she felt responsible for her mother, so always tried to help her in the household and with the smaller children. She is disappointed every time by her mother, expecting her to listen instead of only being immersed in herself. Her mother is very critical, someone who never gave compliments. She took care of her mother when she had cancer, which felt very burdensome.
She is a caring person. In her childhood she took care of a
Thalidomide child, the child of friends of her parents. That’s why people said that teaching would be a good job for her. She feels for herself that she hardly received any attention for herself.
She has a fear to press or push others. This is the more so because she can be blunt. When she is like that she can criticize herself for a long time afterwards. She wants to be liked by others but she’s a bit distant and had difficulty in the beginning in cuddling children.
She has an aversion to rules.

Dream: a ball rolling from a mountain becomes bigger and bigger, heading straight for her.
Dream: she has to travel by plane, car or train, but she comes too late because she has to pack a lot.
Dream: she, her mother and another woman go to a restaurant, they go to sit at a table with only 2 places, she went for food, asking herself if she should boil 3 eggs or only one for herself.
She has flushes of heat starting in her head, extending to her whole body, without sweat.
She had acne with white pustules.
Pain buttocks < walking.
She has frequent coryza, with running nose, coughing, progressing to pneumonia.
Weather: cold hands and feet, -> sun, <- hot weather, <- wet weather.
Time: < 1 pm.
Desires: cheese (3), garlic, chocolate, liquorice.
Aversion: cooked carrots, milk.
Food: < alcohol.
Menses: copious, painful, had to lie down.
AnalysisThe migraines are connected to the mother, pointing to muriaticum.
Her mother is demanding and needy, again muriaticum. She wanted to be independent, not dominated and have freedom. These are all Lanthanide themes.
She has a fear to press or push others. This indicates
Stage 8. That fits very well with the migraine, as
Samarium is a very strongly-indicated remedy for migraines. Her dream of a big ball rolling straight towards her, reminds one of Osmium and the story of Sisyphus. Osmium is also
Stage 8.
The combination is
Samarium muriaticum.
In one dream she is left out by her mother and another woman, asking herself if she should care of them. Here again we see the theme of care and responsibility.
ConfirmationsGold series: migraine, responsible, -> sun, heavy.
Lanthanides: <- rules.
Stage 8: pounding, > pressure, heavy.
Muriaticum: no attention, caring, dress-making, acne, < Dianette contraceptive, menses painful, menses copious.
