TaxonomyIn most classifications

Equisetaceae. In the PPG1 classification
Psilotaceae,
Ophioglossaceae,
Equisetaceae, Marratiaceae,
Osmundaceae and
Schizaeaceae are placed in their closely related separate orders.
Plant theoryIn the
Plant theory Psilotaceae, Ophiosglossaceae,
Equisetaceae, Marratiaceae,
Osmundaceae and Schizeaceae are all included in the order
Equisetales, in the subclass
Equisetidae. This makes
Equisetales not monophyletic according to DNA analyses.
The classification is tentative, as some families are not known well enough in homeopathy for an exact placement.
Equisetaceae are placed in
Subphase 4. This shows the prominent quality of Silicon, being in
Subphase 4 in the
Silicon series, just as
Equisetaceae is. Equisetum is the plant with the highest content of Silicon of all known plants, up to 80%.
