Members: 240 genera; 2900 species.
BotanyTaxonomyCichoroideae is a Subfamily of
Asteraceae. Cichoroideae consists of the Tribes
Gundelieae, Cichorieae, Lactuceae, Vernonieae,
Liabeae and
Arctotideae. Cichorieae is sometimes called Lactuceae. In older classifications Cardueae and Mutsieae were included in
Cichorioideae but research has shown that they should not be included.
