10.1 Gadolinium metallicum
The first feeling that Gadolinium patients give you is that they are self-satisfied. It’s a kind of contentment with themselves. One can see it as haughtiness, but that’s not the best expression. They are completely themselves, so there’s no need for anything else: that’s more the feeling.
A big keynote is harmony. They have a desire for harmony in themselves, in relationships, and in the world. Their biggest disturbance is that something is not in harmony. The atomic number of Gadolinium is 64, which is 2*2*2*2*2*2. So it is composed of two's only, two being the number of duality. Seeing two sides of everything was a pronounced feature in the proving: yang and yin, male and female, electricity and magnetism, left and right, front and back, above and below. There’s a strong desire to bring the dualities of the world into balance.

Balance gives autonomy
They can look at things from a distance, in balance. Their strength is not to let go their inner balance. Balance is a means of being in control and autonomous. They have a fear that when things are out of balance they will go out of control. Harmony expresses this desire for balance. Other words they use include symmetry, equality, equilibrium and equivalence.
They want to stay in control of themselves. Mostly they are able to keep their balance, feel content with themselves, love themselves. But when the balance is disturbed they feel it as a shock, as something that has to be restored.
Their harmonious quality is also expressed to the outside world. They can be good presidents of associations, because they let all people and all aspects come to expression and start making a balance in all these aspects. As they themselves also are part of the balance they don’t impose themselves on others. They don’t try to force their own opinion on to others. They see their own autonomy as only really existing when it’s balanced by the autonomy of others. So, overruling is impossible, it would destroy the balance and harmony. Two aspects make them less than good presidents. First they don’t want to be a leader or president. Second they lack some of the vigor necessary to create things, to make things going, because they can see all sides.
Self-satisfied
A good word for Gadolinium is self-satisfied. Their self is obvious, they feel good with themselves. They feel the centre of the universe, self-centered. It starts with a kind of contentment, but when it goes to the extreme it can become conceit and arrogance. In the first instance it’s just the feeling that they are just fine.
Being in the center makes one free
They want to be in the center of themselves. Also when they follow the spiritual path they look for the harmony. They see it as essential to find harmony in all aspects of their soul. Harmony means that all aspects are centered, as in a Mandala. All dualities are seen as two sides that are balanced around a mid-point. When they succeed in that, they feel that all is in view and in control. This full self-control is the ultimate autonomy. Then they are just free.
Autonomy
For Gadolinium autonomy is obvious. For them everyone is autonomous, because everyone is equal. However, here can also be doubt about it.
Shadow
They have discovered that the shadow is an integral part of their mind. As long as it is in balance with the positive sides it’s good. Everyone has those negative sides and no one is different.
Power
Gadolinium knows that everyone has equal power and that it is harmonious. Things are proper the way they are.

DD Magnesium: both have an aversion to fights and quarrels but Magnesium fears the aggression and is sensitive to having to give away too much space to others, to give up his territory. Gadolinium strives for harmony and balance in the world. They see fights as disruption of harmony and as an intrusion into someone’s autonomy.
DD Sulphur: Both desire harmony but for Sulphur the harmony has more the aspect of beauty and as a consequence being loved. The harmony of Gadolinium has more to do with harmony of the world. It's more a philosophical concept.
