Case by Maarten van der Meer
Stage 02 (MvdM) A 35-year-old woman comes in for dyslexia and stress. She is always very insecure about how she comes across. She dares to say little and quickly thinks people ignore or consider her inferior. She comes across as vulnerable, gentle, softly in behavior and also her body is soft. She has large eyes, with which she searches her surroundings. She is very hurt when a friend first acts very amicably and then ignores her (for her perception, this is at the moment when they are no longer seeking so much contact). She then feels like she has been kicked. She does an education and suffers a lot when people look over her shoulder, exams and tests, there the tension can block her then.
Dyslexia also makes her uncertain, she is often unsure what someone means. With reading and writing, she cannot read what is written properly, she only sees letters. During the period before this, she suffered from inflamed shoulder and arm, a lot of informal care was needed for her parents, and her brothers did not come or could not help. In the situation of not being able to intervene, being driven to want to help but not being able to, the children also had “unsolvable” problems,
Lobelia inflata resolved the pain in the shoulder. In recent months she has had a lot of headaches, is very tired, can't move her self forward, is moody, can't have anything, and her neck and shoulders are stuck. She does not dare to express herself, not to be angry; the very idea gives her a lot of tension in the neck and shoulders. She did not pass her theory exam, reading comprehension is too slow. In a dream, she was in a higher place in her work, for she felt she was always at the bottom. She is often nervous. 'They don't see me standing. 'It's a chaotic turmoil in my head.' Two weeks ago she had an attack of asthma, coughing and wheezing.
AnalysisThis has been an analysis based on the experience with Plant Families.
Malvales: bound and unbound, sensitive, nervous, fear speaking out, mucous membranes, reflects meaning, holding in gives fears, need protection. Neck and shoulders, search for a position. Softness, non verbal communication. Within a family, you then look for an appropriate prescription through a known stage, a known symptom, or through a heading from the repertory.
Stage 2: ‘looking at’ aggravates, insecurity, and shyness, compare the features belonging to
Calcium (timid),
Barium salts (inferior), or
Strontium (criticism, overwhelmed) . Blocking of
Magnesiums. From previous case histories, Malva seems to fit well at
Stage 2 and work well with the theme of dyslexia. Both in terms of reading, comprehension, and writing.
Prescription:
Malva sylvestris MK.
Follow upBy the following month, she is soon feeling good. The questioning in her eyes, and waiting an dinsecurity that used to be read on her face has disappeared. Reading an interlocutor's expression is no longer necessary or exciting. No more headaches. Reading goes well now, she sees immediately what it says, and can read everything immediately. Before, she would see letters, and think “What does it say”. Even sending e-mails is no problem now; before, she used to ask if someone would do that for her. “Normally I didn't see the words, but an image, now it's immediately the words or concepts”. She now hears immediately if a sound is a diphthong or what else. “I dare to make jokes again. I don't flinch so quickly these days”. She has regularly opened her mouth to criticize people, to lecture, and in the school yard, she expressed her opinion in front of everyone. “I address people, I speak out.” She has never dared to do this before, and it makes her proud en less insecure. Two years earlier, after
Dirca palustris, she was also able to read and hear better for a while, turning sounds into letters and words. After busyness and stress, she fell back into the old pattern. The uncertainty had remained. Her energy increased, she started exercising, jogging across streets she was previously ashamed of, and lost many pounds. Things continued to go well for years.
