English: Bristly tree fern.
Genus: ± 30 species.
Region: Australia, New South Wales, Queensland.
Habitat: cool, sheltered rainforest; intolerant of frost, heat, wind.
BotanyFern, tree fern; up to 4m tall; fast growing.
Stem: multiple trunks; unstable when around 3 m tall, topple over, growing from the fallen trunk.
Leaves: glossy; deep green; with coarse, reddish hairs, densely cover the stipes and fiddleheads.
