In the Plant kingdom Caryophyllaceae is placed in Phase 4 of the Caryophyllidae. The division in Subphases is renewed after new provings and cases. A discussion and explanation can be found in Qjurement.
Caryophyllaceae could also be called Caryophyllales as it is placed at the level of an Order. But then the name Caryophyllales would be confusing.
