Botany: 6 genera, Betula, Alnus, Carpinus, Corylus, Ostrya, Ostryopsis; nut-bearing trees and shrubs; 130 species; temperate Northern Hemisphere.
TaxonomyIn the past, Betulaceae was often divided into two families, Betulaceae with Alnus, Betula and Corylaceae with the rest. The Apg3 classification has described these two groups as subfamilies Betuloideae and Coryloideae within Betulaceae.
IntroductionThey have a pioneer quality. They want to find new ways and places, set up new businesses in order to provide their family and the community a better life. This can result in them working so hard that they are hardly home, that they become a stranger in their own family.
