Centaurea benedicta
3-666.42.11A 76-year-old woman, her eyes show concern, her hair is silver gray, and she is gentle. Her eyes are deep and dark, as if she is looking from a limbo, her own space. Her husband has been very dependent for a few years now, which causes tension and demands a lot of her time and attention. They are unable to resolve the situation. She has lost 10 kilos in the last 7 months, wakes up drenched in sweat, and experiences heart palpitations and restlessness. She feels a little dizzy and light-headed. “I'm not myself.” Bowel movements are difficult; she feels no urge. She has little appetite, and her sense of taste and smell has been minimal for four months. Blood tests negative, scan and ultrasound negative. This week, she had acute abdominal pain, bladder problems with blood in her urine, and cramps at the end of urination. “It is must be the tensions from outside.” Her husband is unwell, and she is preoccupied with the fact that sooner or later he will no longer be there. She worries about her grandchildren too; there are concerns that a family member is suicidal. It was too much for her, “I can't handle this,” and that bothers her; she was always so strong. Her children say, “You're not yourself.” At times, she does feel strong; it comes in waves.
The dreams are scary, unpleasant, and have to do with her husband, but she quickly forgets them. She has edema in her legs for 10 years after lymph nodes were removed due to melanoma with metastases. She feels distant from the world and tries to keep her distance. She considers herself very down-to-earth and strong. She feels like she is not really there; she shuts herself off. She used to work in an office and wanted to do something: have a little independence, build something for herself. She stayed at home with the children and made clothes. At 15, she worked in her parents' shop, which she enjoyed. Now she does volunteer work, goes out with friends, and takes trips with her husband.
At home, her brothers were bipolar, “which of course has an impact”; it was always about them, it never stopped. Years ago, she had a tumor in her stomach, encapsulated, with only vague symptoms, which was surgically removed. A few years later, she developed melanomas on her back. She is rarely ill. The dizzy spells: she lies down, and her head (and vision) follow. She doesn't want that; she wants to be strong. She has panic attacks, she feels so insecure, they last up to 10 minutes and occur throughout the day, but she is fine in the evening. She tried Ashwaganda herb, but when she takes it, she can no longer sit still. Sambuccus nigra C30 does nothing.AnalysisLanthanides; 3-660.00.00 Asteranae: even as a child, she was aware of the shadow, independence, helicopter view, wanting to build something for herself.
Gold series; 3-666.00.00 Campanulidae: taking the lead, wanting to be strong, she calls emotions ‘external complaints’. I am not myself (consciousness as a theme).
Phase 4; 3-666.40.00 Asterales: feeling and taking responsibility, being strong, immediately enjoying working with her parents (independently).
Phase 2, 3-666.42.00 Carduaceae: she did not count (at home), taking a step back for her brothers, watching with insecurity.
Stage 11: protecting, holding on, encapsulated tumors.
Centaurea benedicta: gastrointestinal complaints, perspiration, and cold daytime.
Prescription: Centaurea benedictus C30.Follow-upwithin two weeks, she is improving; she feels better quickly, no more perspiration, she feels calmer, and she has more appetite. Her weight is still going down the first two weeks. The panic attacks are gone. The dreams are no longer scary. She had a dream that she couldn't find her car; she called in everyone, but it was just parked in front of the door (the car symbolizes her own strength; she calls in all the specialists and tests, but it turns out to be fine). She is herself again. A few days before the improvement, she started to feel an ‘unpleasant sensation’ in her upper arms and side, more on the right than on the left. After a month, her husband is diagnosed with esophageal cancer. It is a difficult time, but she continues to feel stable. After three months, she feels very well, she is no longer losing weight and has an appetite, and food tastes good to her again. She feels more confident and no longer dreads everything. The sweating has stopped. 'Something has lifted from me’. She is no longer obsessed with her husband and his death. Her face is now open, her eyes are less deep-set, her voice is fuller and warmer, and her face can be soft and radiant again. The choice of medication was based on what she said about her past, how she reacted at home, which is characteristic of her, even now, even this age. The current situation with her concerns about her husband is also a stressful factor to which she reacts; her complaints reveal the sensitivity of her body and mind. The coming year continues to go well, despite many worries at home.
