666.46.08 Petasites hybridus, CaseWoman, 40, diverticulitis.
She has very high fever, red flushed face, dry mouth, is prostrated, sick as a dog, lies for days in bed, became hospitalised. She has low blood pressure and faintness when rising. She has no appetite, has vomiting when the fever is high and when she eats. Her urine is very dark. Her tongue had thick white sticky covering. Her abdomen is very distended, tympanic, as if someone is poking in it, like her mother did. She is passing wind, urine and stool, which she could not do with diverticulitis in the past. Three different antibiotics were not working. She has violent, painful diarrhoea, smelly, disgusting, worse from the antibiotics. Banana is passing through undigested, smelling like a baby. Breathing was difficult, shallow, hard work, as if a heavy weight lies on her chest. There is an abscess on her left ovary.
She has a strong fear that her bowel might be perforated and she might die. She is delirious, does not know what is right and real and what is delirium. It feels as if her brain is not connected. It’s like preparing for a procedure and the memory is wrong. She feels lost, very dramatic, very important, gets lost in the hospital, lost in her dreams, like in the past. She mostly does not want to talk to anyone.
She has powerful visions while in the fever, just with eyes closed, not asleep. One is a visual image of the lips of a wound, dark red, orange, oozing, shiny. The second vision is a dead decomposing body of a young woman with her dead baby next to her, long hair fanned out all around her; the decomposition is where she touches the floor, as if she is melting into it. The colours are dark pink and red. What was noticeable about both of these visions was that she was quickly drawn closer and closer to them, against her will and she had to open her eyes to stop this.
As a child she was very ill with scarlet fever. This was after her brother was born and her mother transferred all attention to her brother. It was a painful experience. Her mother was mean, ignoring her and she would pinch or poke her if she did not obey. Her father was a bridge between her mother and the children. The death of her father was very sudden. She has been keeping things going since her father died, doing the “samarium” thing. Her mother is irritable with her.
She takes too much to heart. It makes her sleepless.
Confusing.
