Verbenales
Botany: Lamiidae; leaves opposite, decussate; flowers colourful, showy, zygomorphic; petals fused, tubular, 2-lipped or 5-lobed; stamens 2 or 4, in pairs, inserted on the corolla.
Taxonomy
In the Apg3 classification Lamiales is a big order with many families. Lamiales is a combination of the Orders of Lamiales, Scrophulariales and Plantaginales of the Cronquist system.
In the Plant theory Verbenales are split off from Lamiales. Verbenales is a monophyletic clade in Lamiales. Lamiales then becomes polypheletic.
