A woman of 45 years of age comes with menstrual problems. She has backache at lumbar vertebra 5. Her body feels heavy, her abdomen distended and her uterus cramped. She has headaches, a kind of migraine with pain behind her eyes extending to her chest, whole body and legs. The pain is more right sided and worse from reading newspapers and better pressing her neck. She has cold feet and is chilly and sweaty. The migraine starts with flickering of light and stars. The headache is worse from fat food, chocolate and coffee.
She feels as if she is drawn out of reality, as if she can’t find a place for herself in this world. She feels labile, vulnerable, depressed, hurried and tense, as if she’s a child of about 12.
In general she feels like a softie, from the flower power era. She feels it like a failure that she's still dependent on social welfare. She wants to practise art therapy to earn money and get out of social welfare, but it’s difficult to make a living that way. It’s difficult to bring her ideas into the world. She can be very forgetful with the feeling of losing an overview of things.
She feels vulnerable, tired and irritated. She feels misunderstood and not accepted which makes her retire into her own world. But that makes her feel distant and cold. She is looking for acknowledgement. She has had certain kinds of obsessions, like counting the ticks of the clock and her steps while walking. She can be very tough, very persistent, going for it.
At primary school she felt an outsider, and at home too as it was too busy there, with no real intimacy or real contact.
Her father was a fanatical pacifist and socialist. He had a medium sized family company and didn't have much time for his children. He was a freethinker
As a child she used to sit somewhere in a corner, reading books, in her own fantasy world. She often had bronchitis. She’s still not breathing freely, talking rather hoarsely.
Profession: artist.Dream: she’s small, standing on a yellow Lego plate and is very afraid of big Lego blocks approaching her; the atmosphere of the dream was very threatening with anxiety about something nameless and abstract.
Dream: she’s standing on a balcony, dark clouds arrive from the right, she realizes that the world will perish; the clouds turn out to be rocks, and a prince takes her away on a flying carpet.
Color preference: 8B (pink).Weather: chilly, -> warm, -> fresh.
Time: < 9 pm.
Desire: bread, spicy.
Aversion: fruit, sour (2), vinegar (3), lemon (3).
AnalysisHer image of being isolated and her feeling of being drawn out of reality indicate
Cerium. She went into (
Stage 4) her fantasy world (inner world,
Lanthanides). They do this to prevent losing their independence. But then of course they cannot go out anymore.
There’s also the aspect of feeling vulnerable, like a child. This indicates the
Carbon series. The distant father also indicates carbon then.
One can also see
Cerium carbonicum in: her father (carbonicum) was a fanatical pacifist (own ideas,
Lanthanides).
ConfirmationsLanthanides: art therapy, tough, outsider, desire real intimacy, tense, aversion dependency, overview, migraine, pain behind eyes, worse from reading, with flickering of light.
Stage 4: timid, softy.
Cerium: drawn out of reality, isolated from the world.
Carbonicum: vulnerable, child, no contact with father.
Follow upAfter
Cerium carbonicum MK she changed enormously, her girlfriend said. She made big strides and allowed herself to be herself. She discovered shortly after the remedy that she’s very emotional. While walking in nature she can feel moved now. She’s clearer in relationships, more self-confident. She changed her house completely. Her mind is much clearer. She has more self-confidence and more self-acceptance "My ideas and feelings are coming much more to the surface".
She feels milder and softer towards her father. When he died she felt a kind of relief. Now she wonders what her father would have thought of things. She had a dream that her mother was supporting her in a quest, she went to a little temple where her father was lying dead, he was "whole" and "holy" and she was at peace with how he was, which is something she had never experienced; it felt light and she realized that he had to be buried.
The next day after the remedy she was a bit out of the world. The first menses was very long and copious and was three days late. Later the headaches and menses were much better, not painful anymore.
Two years later she’s still doing fine. Her migraine has become infrequent, her bronchi are more free and the menses problems are practically gone. She appreciates herself much more as she is. She has learned to trust her emotions and intuition. This changed her life for the positive as she's less easily influenced and manipulated. This gives more rest and she is caring more for herself. She smokes much less tobacco. She accepts being different.
Her complaints have disappeared for 65 %. Her quality of life has changed from 40 to 70.
