Autonomy means loss of self-worth
They decide that they want to be autonomous. But they fear that openly stating this will lead to a loss of self-worth. They hesitate to declare their independence openly. At the same time they cannot give it up. So they get into a state of being unable to go forward or backward. They feel locked in their own personality. This leads to a feeling of being out of contact with the world, as if there’s glass between them and the world. This feeling can also exist between them and their inner world, as if they are out of contact with themselves. It makes them nervous and timid. They feel their power but don't know how to express it to the world. They declare their autonomy with timidity, but also with dignity.
Self-worth means blocking autonomy
They have a problem combining self-worth and autonomy: they want to start with it but feel locked in. They fear that when they state themselves and their worth, that others will blow away their power. They fear that they can’t state their independence, that they will have to give up their autonomy. They fear their autonomy will be crushed.
Father blocks their autonomy
They can have a domineering father so that they can’t stand up for themselves. They are too timid and doubtful to take up their autonomy. At the same they feel the need to do so. So they become very nervous and timid, not knowing what to do.
Father fears stating autonomy
It can be the case that they have a father who doesn't dare to be independent. He can have power, but is afraid to express it. This too can make them also quite easily intimidated, as they don't have an example of how to be independent.
