Homalia trichomanoides
English: Blunt Feather-moss; Homalia moss.
Dutch: Spatelmos.
Genus: 6 species.
Habitat: on rocks; on the base of trees and shrubs in shaded sites such as woods and hedgerows; by ditches, streams and rivers, growing in the flood zone, but well above the normal water level; on rocks and walls.
Botany
Stems: flattened shoots; up to 6 cm long; curve downwards at the tip when dry, giving the shoots an arched back.
Leaves: shiny, rounded; just over 1 mm long; like a leafy liverwort; faint nerve extends at least halfway along the leaf.
Capsules: egg-shaped; 1.5 mm long; not uncommon.
