Hibiscus sabdariffa
Remedy code: 3-655.33.15
A six-year-old boy, the issue is soiling pants. He is playful, relaxed, active, and inquisitive. The mother indirectly mentions the problem, showing concern for the child, describing it in different words. He still has 'accidents.' It happens every day for weeks, occasionally he has a good week; it's related to 'stress,' but it also occurs at home. Streaks of stool in his pants, sometimes more, sticking between the buttocks. The stool is black, hard, in pieces, or diarrhea. His father also has sensitive bowels, and experiences pain after eating, but his father's bowel movements are normal. The child knows when it happens; you can see in him the fear of judgment. At home, he stands in a corner; if you send him to the toilet in time, it goes well. It's related to school activities, like dressing up, where things go wrong. The large group at school is a challenge, overwhelming him. His reactions indicate sensitivity to groups; he gets very angry, walks away, or refuses to enter school. When his parents argue, his behavior changes; he becomes obstinate, and clings to them, seeking comfort. He is sensitive to the atmosphere, to tension. After school, he often goes to a babysitter. Toilet training went well. He is an enthusiastic boy, initially a bit shy, loving. At school, he follows the group but maintains his own opinion, avoiding conflicts. Sleeps well, calmly, reluctant to sleep in his own bed; he is placed there after falling asleep is his parents bed. Never sick. Wants to do everything himself, dressing, etc. He dislikes vegetables and potatoes. The tongue is clean. Pregnancy was good, and delivery too; the mother had high blood pressure and felt light-headed afterward. She felt down for two years after delivery; the child had sleep issues. The child's sleep: he woke up 3 times a night until 10 months, then had trouble falling asleep; attention helped. He enjoys gym, soccer, and swimming. He is very active during outdoor play, running, going into the woods.
We call him by a nickname, named after his father's deceased brother, which had a significant impact on the father as a child. When angry, he can't express it and sits on the couch.
Analysis
When searching for a theme, an essential first step is to ask: what stands out? What is a striking feature that transcends the rest of the story or symptoms? Here, it's the sensitivity to the environment, the receptive way of looking, understanding your intentions, reading facial expressions, or hearing the tone used. Sensitivity to 'atmosphere'; he can avoid conflicts despite having a clear opinion. These are typical features of Malvaceae. Inability to express anger. Adapting, reading others, going along with them: phase 3.
Enthusiasm is a characteristic, and together with ‘active’, and ‘tension’, fitting with stage 15 aspects: contrary (compare Antimonium), stage 15 as a characteristic of the theme 'stress,' 'pressure'; here you can recognize it in avoiding crowds, pushing out stool. The child is strongly focused on the external world, on people, and the atmosphere around him, more evident and striking than the theme of 'autonomous' or magical thinking often seen at this age (and leading to class 6 indications), also more evident to the theme of family and other children or playmates (leading to a class 3 indication). Therefore, there's less indication to consider class 6 or class 3 in the choice. Phase 3 seems a good starting point for the analysis. Check other possibilities in phase 3 because comparing can help with differentiation; Campanulales are softer, Boraginales are more vulnerable, Primulales are more decisive, Physenales are more about searching for meaning, etc.
Mother had high blood pressure, tension fits stage 15, and specially Hibiscus, lightheaded fits phase 3. The course of pregnancy, circumstances, and symptoms the mother had experienced, often guide the medicine choice. Experience confirms this repeatedly, considering the principle that the child feels what the mother feels, and vice versa. Besides this, the child's sensitivity seems to be reflected in the mother.
The emphasis on stage 15 leads to Hibiscus Sabdariffa.
Prescription: Hibiscus Sabdariffa MK.
Follow-up
After three weeks: The first three nights, he suddenly started bed-wetting, in large amounts, woke up once, and twice he stayed asleep. A lot of sweating in bed; when transporting him to his own bed (after a few hours of sleep), the entire sheet was wet. His behavior has changed; he is calmer, and hard to describe, but more compliant and wiser. More relaxed, that's the right word. He was always restless, quickly switching activities; now, he plays for a longer time. No news from school yet. He doesn't come home with dirty pants anymore; it was occasionally good for a week, but three weeks in a row is exceptional. Now he goes to the toilet on his own, doesn't stand in a corner anymore, and talks about it (when the mother asks: how was school?), previously there was shame. Now he shares with his mother how it went, what he felt, like holding it in. The stool itself is much lighter in color now, not hard anymore, always the same; it became easier in the first week, during which he
went to the toilet very often. Handling crowds went well, especially during Santaclous' arrival. It hasn't been busy at home yet. He can express himself better. He is no longer sitting on the couch or hiding behind his mother; sometimes he looks sad, and then says he's tired. After half an hour of rest, it's over, or he goes to bed earlier. Sometimes goes to bed on his own, which he never wanted before. The tongue is now dark, purple-red, and the edge is lighter (this indicates mucous membrane congestion, higher spleen energy activity; things have changed internally). Previously, he was angrier, immediately attacking or breaking toys if things didn't go his way. Now, he has more trouble with irritated skin, as always in winter, on the arms, back, and belly.
Discussion
The response to the remedy is undeniably good. SIlver series and certainly Malvidae often involve mucous membrane sensitivity, alongside emotional response and emotional sensitivity. After Hibiscus, there's a lot of expression in words and facial expressions. Pregnancy/delivery themes are evident, 'loss' and tension from stage 15, themes present in the father and physically in the mother, as first child he is corresponding fathers sensitivity. Behavior, vegetative, development in terms of more talking, sleeping in his bed, bowel function, and attention span; everything responds on the remedy, and mucous membranes still react (see red tongue), confirming the Malvidae. Spleen energy: this signifies stability and digestion. This shift indicates an energy-level change; apparently, the distribution of meridian energy has changed to achieve improvement and more stability.
The years after it is alright with this boy.
