A 22-month-old boy, constantly suffering from a cold. This is the second pregnancy, so we pay special attention to the mother. Grangeorge points out that a child from the first pregnancy has more similarities with the father, and the second with the mother in terms of sensitivity, complaints, and predisposition. During this pregnancy, the mother came for his brother with the same complaints. What characterized her then and now: stability, calmness, very strong emotional and psychological traits, and a remarkable individuality, yet soft towards the environment. It was undoubtedly a radiant pregnancy, and this was used to incorporate the unity between mother and child during this period into the prescription. Brother received
Neodymium muriaticum, chosen based on the mother (due to various infections from infancy:
Lanthanides, opportunistic starting as a child and as a parent:
Stage 6, mucous membranes, and 'care': muriaticum). The child persistently has an irritated middle ear, it doesn't progress, hasn't had any antibiotics. Saline solution through nasal spray doesn't help. He is very tearful, sleeps restlessly, and sometimes seems dizzy: he then needs to seek support 'to clear things up again'. Teething was not an issue. The tongue is clean and pale. Sublingual glands on the left enlarged. He takes many naps during the day, they give extra bottles to help him sleep. He struggles to swallow large pieces and eats little probably due to fatigue. Since summer, there has been something every time (for 5 months), on vacation his ear was protruded, left side. Now he gets sick every time, touches his ears, drools a lot, has watery eyes, and doesn't want to lie down. Screams when you lay him down, restless in bed. It's worse towards the end of the day, worse lying down. At night, he wakes up 4-5 times, sometimes cheerful, sometimes crying, then he shakes and waves his head a lot. Holding and walking around helps then. Sour stool, but no diaper rash. The pregnancy was good, the birth was smooth, he groaned a lot after the second day, but no abnormalities were found. He is present, quickly developing, venturesome.
Analysis Several rubrics were reviewed, looking for medicines that fit the above-described 'picture'.
AnalysisPain ear lying didn't yield a suitable medicine corresponding the ‘picture’, so the general rubric ‘lying aggravate’ was used. Aesculus is mentioned, which fits with the
Malvidae sensitivity and the
Stage 10 aspect. When going through a rubric, you must select beforehand what you're looking for; it requires some knowledge to extract possible medicines. A search was made for a
Stage 10 medicine, and a
Silver series medicine (Classe was not yet described at the time, but in this case, a
Malvales or
Malvales-like medicine, based on knowledge of Plant families). Q-search is now an important tool in this regard. The repertory rubric gives 450 possibilities, Q- search a handful to choose from! Infection as the main complaint often points to
Asterales or
Lanthanides. But the peace and stability of the child, the mother, and the pregnancy do not indicate this. Weakness or resistance is not characteristic. The course of the pregnancy is characteristic: stable, calm, understanding, and gentle enjoyment, mother was and is very clear with non-verbal language and soft 'feeling', almost an exploration of the environment and the conversation (known from the
Malvales), but with remarkable calmness and certainty. The atmosphere, attitude of the mother, and the course of the pregnancy fit well with
Malvidae,
Stage 10, and
Phase 4 are also 'prominently' present, the persistence and constancy of the complaint can be seen as
Phase 4 aspects. The modality completes the puzzle.
Silver series: sensitivity in terms of empathy and perception
Phase 4: stable mother, her demeanor.
Phase 5: unrest, congestion.
Stage 10: Mother's demeanor, self-assureds, balance.
From previous casuistry, it was found that Aesculus fits with people who are strong, feel central, and assertive, without being pushy but persistent and persevering without any complaining (fitting
Phase 4). Taking care of loved ones, and the family, from clear principles, and ideas, which they are not always consciously aware of, is a deeper layer of psychological, experience, or culturally driven.
Prescription: Aesculus hippocastaneum C200
Follow-upAfter two weeks: the first week everything was the same, then suddenly it improved. He is now lively, plays instead of crying all the time for attention, you don't have to lift him all day anymore. "We
couldn't remember him ever being like this, this calmness and interest in everything." The daycare calls him a different child, it's a world of difference: he's easygoing, and he lasts all day. The stool has still very sour for two weeks, in small amounts, but less thin and less yellow now. Sleeps well during the day, wakes up only once at night, between 4-5 a.m. (previously 4-5 times per night): still screams, can't be comforted, needs to be held or given a bottle. Now eats well and a lot. Sleeps well during the day, and can now be laid down. No need for nasal spray anymore, the tongue is clean, and the glands are negative. Very interested. After these two weeks, all complaints completely disappear, and it goes well for half a year.
Sapindaceae Scholten: feel stable, in a situation with family and society that is safe and reliable. Or rules too rigid and fixed, immovable. Everything is predictable, invented, and developed. Theme: grounded (or not), strong hierarchy, mind and body separated, need protection big brother, feel prisoner, manipulated, confusion.
Aesculus, Clarke: fullness root of nose, nose and throat sensitive, pupils widely dilated and flushed face. Sleep is interrupted by sudden awakenings and screams. Congestion in poisoning symptoms confirmed 'lying worsens'. Stagnation is a central theme.
From much casuistry, it appears that the course of pregnancy as a characteristic theme for the child is a good entry point for analysis. Always consider what is most prominent in the case, the complaints, the atmosphere, and the story. How the mother interacts with the child, the result of an interaction (provided you recognize that this is an organic and natural process, not played or intellectual) that shows where the sensitivity of mother and child lies. This also applies to the entire family. If this creates a recognizable 'picture' (which depends on the insights of the homeopath, and familiarity with these 'parameters'), then it is usable for a healing prescription. Thinking in
Classes,
Phases, and
Subphases provides insight into and understanding of the vegetative and conscious functioning of the individual, and of the interaction with the environment, including contacts (such as mother and family). References to this coherence: see dictations of Plant families. From Wonderful
Plants, an indication can be justified or defined, in conjunction with known information: pharmacology (poisoning symptoms) and the influence on the level of 'vitality' (homeopathic proving), or the descriptions in the Materia Medica. Sometimes there is an indication from a repertory, phytotherapy, etc., that can confirm the choice you made from Wonderful
Plants, or vice versa, you can search for ideas found through Wonderful
Plants or
Qjure in existing Materia Medica.
