Case by Jan Scholten.
Boy, 12 years old, concentration disorder.Things are not going well at school, he is the worst in the class. He is easily distracted and cannot concentrate. He often doesn't understand and then he gives up. He has already doubled a class. He already did not want to go to primary school as he prefers to stay in kindergarten. Because of these private problems, he has been sent to a private school. He wants to perform and be good, up to his achievements. If he succeeds, he feels super he feels super super. He wants to be big and not small. He is also physically small. Those are the three biggest problems being small, not being able to learn well and his parents being divorced.
His mother had a lot of worries during pregnancy. She felt burdened because her husband had another girlfriend. The pregnancy was an attempt to bond with him. He suffered a heart attack. She herself had diabetes in pregnancy.
His development as a baby was normal with walking and talking, but he grew slowly. A diagnosis of celiac disease could not be confirmed
Later, he would like to become an architect. Then he can be creative and build houses. He now often does that in computer games. His hobbies are video games, football and sleeping. For years, he played a lot with Lego.
His parents divorced when he was seven and he suffered a lot because of that. He became gloomy and afraid of death. The divorce was dramatic because his mother was very nervous, cried a lot and turned to alcohol when his father left. He lives with his mother and is with his father on weekends. He dislikes his father's new girlfriend. He likes his father, but not his argumentative and aggressive behavior. Then he is scared and tries to calm down his father by stroking his face and asking him not to shout. Sometimes he pinches his own face when scared. or he tries to calm his parents down by hugging them. He has good contact with his elder brother and sister.

Follow-upSix weeks after the drug, he is doing better. He no longer plays on the computer as much, only one instead of five hours. He doesn't play around with friends. He is also doing much better at school. With learning, he has become more of a go-getter, instead of immediately giving up like in the past. His mood is much better.
