Region: tropical southeastern Asia in Malaysia, Philippines
BotanySpiny evergreen shrub, rarely a small tree; to 3 m tall.
Leaves: trifoliate; glossy dark green; leaflets 2 to 4 cm long, ± 2 cm broad.
Flowers: white; 3 petals, 10 to 13 mm long, 4 mm broad.
Fruit: red, edible hesperidium; 10 to 15 mm diameter; flesh is pulpy, with a flavor reminiscent of a slightly sweet lime.
Use: edible fruit; ornamental bonsai plant.
