Taxonomy
The Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 placed Tectariaceae in the suborder Polypodiineae. Alternatively, it may be treated as the subfamily Tectarioideae of a very broadly defined family Polypodiaceae sensu lato.
In 1990, Karl Kramer included Pleocnemia the genera of current Tectariaceae in Dryopteridaceae.
Kramer included Arthropteris, Psammiosorus and Oleandra in Oleandraceae. In 2006 Tectariaceae was an accepted family.
In 2007 Pleocnemia was shown to belong to Dryopteridaceae.
In 2007 Dracoglossum was named as a new genus and moved to Lomariopsidaceae.
