BotanyHerbs; small short-lived annual herbs with stems to 10 (-20) cm tall, glandular-pubescent throughout, especially in the upper parts.
Leaves: alternate; flat; succulent; spatulate to petiolate with an obovate to oblong-obovate lamina; 10 to 20 mm long, 3 to 12 mm wide; obtuse; green, lower face often reddish or purplish.
Inflorescence: lax; few- or many-flowered; cymes, with 2 to many cincinni, bracts 1 per flower, pedicels filiform, 3 to 6 mm.
FIowers: 6 merous, 5 to 8 merous; almost globular in bud; sepals broadly sessile, basally connate, equal, oblong; ± 2 mm long; acuminate; petals basally connate, lanceolate to elliptic, 5 to 7 mm long, ± 3 mm wide, acuminate to aristate, yellow; filaments yellow, anthers yellow.
Chromosome number: 2n=16.
