A man of 23 years of age has allergic complaints and headaches.
The allergy started 10 years ago for no known reason. He just started to sneeze the whole day long with itchy eyes and had green and thick discharge from his sinus. He feels itching inside his head. The eyes are wet and red. He took a lot of remedies during these ten years, and he was improved only occasionally. All symptoms are better from cold, fresh air, outside and worse from spring to autumn.
His headaches started 12 years ago. He feels a severe and long lasting sharp pressing inside his eyes and temples. His temples feel swollen. It starts when he wakes up in the morning and lasts for the whole day. It started in primary school every time he was very nervous. His headache and nervousness started after problems with his grandparents. He used to live with grandparents, because the school near their house was better than in the small village near Belgrade where his parents lived. The grandparents controlled him very much. They didn't let him go out to play with other kids. Sometimes, when he went out, he had to call them from under the window every 15 minutes. He felt so bad because of it that he stopped going out. The most important thing for him was to have friends, and to share things with them. But he couldn't satisfy that need so he closed himself off. He lost all contact with friends. He used to be alone all of his free time, and he was thinking a lot about everything. He still doesn't have much contact with other people: he lives in his own world.
He can’t sleep well. He thinks a lot in bed about the things he couldn't say to people or things he couldn't let go of. He talks to himself about things he would like to say to someone and he can’t say, because he doesn't like to make someone feel upset. It lasts for hours before he falls a sleep. He worries about family matters, sister, and parents and cousins, although they all are OK.
His greatest fear is about cancer. He said: “When I was small, my father's friend died from that dangerous disease, you know, I can’t say the name, and I’m thinking I could become sick, and that means suffering; I’m afraid I will lose some part of my body because of that disease”.
He finished his studies with excellent marks but he didn't start working. He doesn't know what to do now. After he finished at college, he gave himself a few months to think about the future, but one year passed and he couldn't decide what to do. First he thought he would work, but now he would like to study further, but he is not sure what. His degree is in engineering.
His hair has long dreadlocks, like Bob Marley.
He’s restless and easily frightened.
Color preference: 15E (dark blue).
He’s tall and slim.
For 9 years he has had slight myopia, -1, but he doesn't wear glasses, because he doesn't like them.
Desire: cold drinks, coca-cola (2), fish, pizza.
AnalysisI was sure about the salt, phosphoricum. The indications are many: communication problems, -> friends, -> talking, fairly superficial anxieties about relatives and friends, restlessness and fears, and finally desires and appearance.
The
Lanthanides are indicated because of his special behavior with his hair; he has gone his own way. But also the theme of being dominated is typical of the
Lanthanides.
I was thinking about
Stages 3 and 4. He hasn't started working yet; the same has happened with the contacts with friends. I decided to give him
Cerium, because of the feeling of isolation.
So the prescription was
Cerium phosphoricum.
The remedy can also be seen in the sleeplessness. He thinks what he would like to say (
Phosphorus) to someone and he can’t say it (
Stage 2, 3 or 4).
ConfirmationsLanthanides: excellent in school, myopia, headache, allergies.
Phosphor: tall, slim, -> cold drinks.
Follow upHe took three doses of
Cerium phosphoricum on 12-5-2004, 10-6-2004 and 10-7-2004.
He called me recently and told me that he feels cured. There is no headache. He had a mild and brief “sneezing attack” after taking the remedy. His restlessness is 80% better, and when I asked him about his fear, he asked me “Are you thinking of cancer” and said, “Yes, I will have it forever”. He pronounced the word cancer.
After six months the symptoms which remain are:
1. Photophobia, he has burning pain provoked with intense light
2. Sneezing with watery coryza, < cold air.
3. He started to be aware of his sensitivity and irritability
4. Fear of cancer started to irritate him
5. He eats just a few things, (pizza, coca-cola, pasta) because all the rest cause nausea.
I gave him
Arsenicum LM1, because of sensitivity for three days. After a week he said that he didn't have any reaction, but he is OK. A month later, he broke up with his girlfriend, and he was sad but he didn't have headache after that. Sneezing is better.
I didn't ask about fears, because of his sadness.
8 months later he's OK. He has no more headache and his allergy disappeared. He has no more worries, but he is still sad because of his ex-girlfriend. Generally, he thinks he is cured. He is more peaceful within.
