1. Case of Anxiety and InfertilityChief Complaint: A 30-year-old woman presented with infertility for 3–4 years, causing significant stress and anxiety. She has fear of doctors and investigations, leading to procrastination.
Physical
Symptoms:
Dysmenorrhea: Before menses: dullness, backache, sleepiness, weeping mood. During menses: lower abdominal pain, frequent loose stools (3–5 times), weakness after stools, weeping with pain
Dysuria around menses
Headaches: Worse before menses and after washing hair; Better with sleep and open air
Body pain and dullness after hair wash
Emotional State:
Very dependent, child-like behavior
Obsessive cleanliness, fastidious, repetitive behavior (OCD traits)
Seeks sympathy, consolation, affection; wants to be cared for “like a baby”
Shy, fearful, sensitive since childhood; low confidence
Anxious, restless, indecisive, cannot relax
Fear of losing loved ones
Anger followed by weeping; feels better after crying
Medical History & Reports:
Estradiol <24 pg/mL
Diagnosed with PCOD, infertility, obesity, and thyroid disorder
Rapid weight gain (currently 65 kg)
Past allopathic hormonal treatments
Multiple hormonal imbalances (estrogen, cortisol, etc.)
Treatment History: Consulted many gynecologists and tried multiple treatments, including allopathy and homeopathy. Several homeopathic remedies were given intermittently (
Lithium carb,
Medorrhinum,
Calcarea carb, Pulsatilla, among others), but she was irregular and noted no significant improvement.

Graphites belongs to the carbon group (Carbo veg,
Carbo animalis,
Petroleum,
Calcarea carb). She was earlier given
Lithium carb, again pointing to the carbon theme. Often, a complementary remedy from the same family is needed.
Graphites traits were evident since childhood—timid, shy, and sensitive, especially regarding the father, a key theme in carbon remedies as described by Scholten. Though
Graphites was considered, it wasn’t prescribed because the case appeared blocked due to multiple past remedies.
In such blocked cases, clinical experience shows the need to first remove the block with an appropriate remedy before prescribing the deeper constitutional remedy.
To choose the blocking remedy, her deep hormonal disturbance, rapid weight gain, scanty menses, PCOD, thyroid issues, and fast-paced nature point toward a sarcode as the initial remedy.
Rx: Pituitaria Glandula 30C B. D. for 5 days followed by Pituitaria Glandula 200C B. D. for 2 days. After 1 week,
Graphites 30C, 200C, and 1M;
Graphites LM2 O. D. for 7 days
Follow up: We observed a remarkable transformation. She conceived successfully, had an uneventful pregnancy, and delivered a healthy baby girl.
Post-delivery:
She couldn’t breastfeed, had weakness, back pain, and headaches. Emotionally she became extremely anxious, fearful, indecisive, and overly dependent on her husband. She cried easily, felt guilty about not breastfeeding, was anxious when alone, and constantly needed care, often saying she wanted her mother. Sleep was disturbed by the baby’s cries. The intensity of her anxiety was far beyond normal postpartum worry.
Such postpartum states with strong emotional disturbance and unclear symptoms often indicate sarcodes, specifically Matridonal remedies—maternal remedies described by Melissa Assilem. These include
