Region: Peru, Colombia.
Use: ornamental.
Culture: Zephyrus was the Greek god of the west wind that brought the spring rains that awakened nature.
Clades: Angiospermae, Lilianae, Liliidae, Asparagales, Amaryllidaceae, Stage 5.
Botany: blooming only after heavy rains; flowers short-lived, blossoming only after seasonal heavy rains or storms; small, perennial plants.
grow on disturbed land and grassy areas; leaves narrow, flattened, dark green linear; from a spherical tunicate bulb; flowers single, fragrant six petaled, funnel-shaped, borne erect or slightly inclined, on scapes around 10-15 cm; spathes ± 3 cm long, slightly divided; perianth bright pink with a green central perianth tube; 6 stamens of different lengths, shorter than the style, inserted at the mouth of the perianth; anthers are 3-6 mm long; fruit capsules, divided deeply into three lobes; seeds shiny black, flattened.
Use: ornamental flower.
