Region: central China.
Habitat: among scree; tropical; sometimes epiphyte, on rock; up to 3800m altitude.
Use: ornamental, in rock garden, in half-shade, with protection from winter rains.
BotanyFern; hardy; deciduous; forms clumps of erect pinnatifid fronds.
Root: rhizome, underground, large, 1 to 2 cm diameter.
Leaves: polypody-like; deciduous; emerge with a coppery tint; up to 50 cm long; remain in place after drying, allowing the accumulation of organic matter; basal fronds are marcescent.
