English: Kangaroo fern; Hound's tongue fern.
Synonym: Microsorum membranaceum; Colysis membranacea; Lepidomicrosorium hymenodes; Microsorum carinatum; Microsorum hymenodes; Phymatodes grandifolia; Pleopeltis grandifolia.

Region: tropical and subtropical Asia, India, China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Southeast Asia, Sulawesi, northern Australia.
Habitat: in tropical and subtropical; on trees and rocks in humid forests, rainforests, especially in the understory; prefers shaded or partially shaded environments.
Use: ornamental, in gardens, as a houseplant.
BotanyFern: epiphyte.
Stem: rhizomes, creeping underground stems; dark; scaly.
Leaves: leathery, glossy; lance-shaped; pinnate; leaflets irregularly lobed, resemblance a hound's tongue.
Sori: round; covered by a membranous indusium; on the undersides of the leaflets.
TaxonomyBosmania membranacea was first described as Polypodium membranaceum. It was transferred from Microsorum to the new genus Bosmania in 2019 as a result of a molecular phylogenetic study.
