Roots: under a rock or in crevices in the cool shade with quick draining soil; short creeping rhizome.
Leaves: thick; sage green; with a fussy white back that turns to cinnamon; long; narrow; piannae ovate, sinuate-lobed; abaxial surface is rough, brown and covered with ciliated scales; adaxial scalesi, mostly deciduous and only 1 to 2 cells wide.
Sori: without indusia run along the veins near the margins.
