Woman, 53 years old, Anxiety disorder. She perceives that fear has been present from the very beginning, influenced by her parents’ anxiety. Her father was a wonderful but overly sensitive and fearful person. She had serious health issues early in life, and since childhood she has been easily frightened. At 34 she developed breast cancer, later her uterus was removed. Already at the age of 8 she was asking about death.
Whenever she was sick, she feared she would die. She is angry at herself from morning till night and longs for perfection. She is also angry at her father for dying.
She appears very chaotic, jumping from topic to topic. She is currently taking care of her mother and is obsessed with her condition, constantly thinking about her, even monitoring her through a camera. She experiences ambivalence—anger followed by guilt. She feels like she is in prison and describes herself as an extremist, unable to maintain moderation in anything (weight, smoking, drinking).
Her problems worsened when her mother became ill. She feels abandoned, as if both her mother and husband are leaving her. During panic states she experiences shortness of breath.
In childhood, she was deeply connected to her father “as if with an umbilical cord,” while in conflict with her mother. She feels she has spent her life pleasing others. She hates routine, structure, and stereotypes. She started studying law but could not tolerate being forced into a form. She uses fat as protection, “packing fear into fat,” and then hates herself for it.
She loves art, beauty, and aesthetics. She becomes enthusiastic quickly but cannot sustain it, including in relationships. She falls in love easily and has difficulty maintaining stable connections. She never wanted children and states she “just wanted to be joyful.” Freedom, especially in water, brings her relief—“Swimming is freedom,” and water has a cleansing effect on her. She reports that her mind is constantly active and cannot stop.
She has tried multiple homeopathic remedies (Nux vomica, Bach flowers, Aconitum,
Hecla lava, Mercurius) without effect. She loves plants and keeps many at home. Her quality of life was 20%.
