1.1.1 Lacticum acidum, Case 1A 25 year old woman presents complaints of hypoglycemia. If she waits a little too long between meals her stomach starts to rumble and grumble and she starts to feel dizzy. She gets restless and begins to tremble, gets clammy hands and starts to sweat with a feeling as if she’ll faint. This is even worse during menses. It started when she was 18, this was a difficult time in her life. her mother nagged a lot, she had no contact with her father and her brother used to vent his frustration on her. She decided to leave home.
Before she developed this hypoglycemia she suffered from hyperventilation, was afraid to go to town or meet people in case she would faint. She has little self confidence, doesn’t really know what she wants. Her moods are changeable, sometimes she gets very loud and pushy. She wonders if that is really her, or whether she does that to hide her shyness. It feels like the mask of a clown sometimes. She can also be very moody, especially before the menses.
On the one hand she is very closed and easily offended and on the other hand she can be open and flippant.
She dreams of being chased and hurt.
When she was 16 she took an overdose of aspirin once. It had all got too much, the tension at home, the divorce of her parents, the quarrels with her brother.
She frequently gets tension headaches, with a feeling as if her brain is sloshing around when shakes her head, or a feeling of being hit by hammers. Sometimes this is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Frequent dizziness. The headache is worse from light and noise, better from cold.
She gives the impression of being very childish with a high pitched voice like that of a little girl. Her body looks like that of a child too, small and slim.
She gets a little lump on her lip when she eats fruits like apples, peaches, kiwi, nectarine, apricot or cherries. This causes itching which radiates to throat and ears and then she loses her voice.
She is afraid of violence, blood and knives.
GeneralsWeather: warmblooded, cold feet; -> fresh air and open windows.
Perspiration: occasionally at night.
Time: < 5 and 9 pm, evening.
Desires: sweets, milk, vegetables.
Aversion: fat (2), meat, fish
Food: < fruit, apple, peach, kiwi, nectarine, apricot, cherries.
Menses: frequent, every two weeks; swollen abdomen and breasts before menses.
Sleep: good, on her side.
AnalysisThe clear symptoms of hypoglycemia point to one the Lacticums. She is childish and dependent, very girlish. Other Lacticum characteristics: -> milk, -> sweet, warm blooded, -> fresh air, < menses, hyperventilation and easily afraid.
The open and assertive side of her points to the Acidums. besides being dependent and childish she is also quite extroverted. Other Acidum symptoms:
-> vegetables, < fruit, and < evening.
There are also some traits that could point to the Magnesium: fear of violence, divorced parents, < fruit, -> vegetables. She did improve a lot on Magnesium muriaticum too.
ReactionDuring the course of one year, after a few dose of Lactic acid 1M, she became much more independent and even tempered. The hypoglycemia has more or less gone.
