Halophytaceae is included in Portrulacales in the Apg1 classification.
In the Plant theory Halophytaceae in the first Subphase in Portulacacele as they are aquatic plants. But the position is problematic as there is no homeopathic infromation and the Family is too small to represent a whole Subphase.
Hypoeehtically Didieraceae and Basellaceae are included in this clade.
Genus: 1; 1 species, Halophytum ameghinoi.
Region: Patagonia.
Botany: succulent herb; leaves simple, fleshy, alternate; solitary female flowers and inflorescences of male flowers on the same plant; formerly in Chenopodiaceae.
