Habitat: seasonal tropical forest.
Use: ornamental.
Region: India, Indo-China and Malesia.
Botany
Small tree, of up to 10 metres; epiphytic or strangler when young, partially relies on the support of surrounding tree trunks
Leaves: fleshy, shiny; typically lanceolate, 12 cm long, 6 cm wide; petiole of 25 mm long.
Inflorescence: terminal or axillary, few-flowered.
Flowers: cream to white typically; ± 7 cm long; flowering in March–August.
Calyx: 5-lobed, ± 1 cm long.
Corolla: funnel-shaped; ± 5 cm long; 5 broad lobes, twisted to right; 5 adnate stamens are attached to base.
Ovary: 2-celled; containing many ovules in each; with capitate stigma.
Fruit: shiny berries; ± 3 cm long, ± 2 cm wide; containing many seeds.
