Case by Maarten van der Meer
A 68-year-old woman, six months ago was given Conus circinatus because of fatigue, she recovered well. She did not suffer from the heat all summer, she could do anything she wanted, she was getting out of bed again, doing housework the garden, and manual work. It had been years since she could do that, and she is now happily going to do what she couldn't do for years. What remains is stomach trouble, which is related to stress. During treatment for her jaw clenching, the diagnosis came from trauma processing. When she comes under pressure it is worse, especially time pressure, and that has to do with feeling rejected. That comes from the past. If a friend doesn't call back, she panics, she gets stomach pain and jaw clenching. She has a fear of failure, when volunteering she always thinks beforehand 'Can I do it', and 'Am I doing it right'. A reproach hits her tremendously, 'I'm choking inside', then she goes outside into the rain, 'it's his word against mine, in such a case it goes wrong'. It brings out the feeling of the past, in the same way her mother turned the other family members against her. She is still furious, because the repetition of such events.
AnalysisShe has responded well to Cornus, and the theme is still recognizable especially the
Phase 6 aspect. The energy remains better then before, she can do a lot more, the things she likes. We have the possibility of repeating, the possibility of reversing Phase and Subphase, within the
Verbenales you then come to, for example, Thunbergia. Another possibility is to reanalyze the case, with the characteristics that remain. Jaw clamp can be linked to tension in the pelvis, we also see agitation and panic, so tension in the head; head and pelvis as a combination is characteristic in the Lilliales. Use was made of the rubric in the repertory “escape house,” where we find an apt remedy,
Ornithogalum umbellatum. Because of the large overlap with the theme, no further search was made.
Silicon series: complaints in the combination of head and pelvis.
Phase 6: no appreciation, (the theme from before: partner, fatigue).
Stage 3: insecure, trying her best to achieve something (appreciation within the
Silicon series range, parents, family).
Stage 12: struggle, anger, repetition.
Ornithogalum umbellatum is the symbolic of the umbilical cord.
Prescription:
Ornithogalum umbellatum C30.
Follow-up,At two weeks the jaw physical therapy is stopped, it is no longer needed. She stops 'those psychologists', they were criticizing her too (she said too much or she said too little, she always heard). She is relaxed now, she can 'convert' the rejected feeling now, she is even happy that she didn't belong before, she sees now that she didn't belong in the family. As a result, she now has sociability. She no longer needs to be accepted, the tension is gone, and everything goes more smoothly now. She started doing sports twice a week. After three weeks, she got lower abdominal pain, it looked like bladder pain, and radiated to the groin and back. When walking, she felt a stone in the abdomen. The feeling had been there for months she tells now, and became severe. It also hurts with intercourse.
Antibiotics did not help. Sitting and cycling made it worse. After two weeks this complaint disappeared (emotionally she improved, temporarily at the expense of the physical, so don’t interfere with a remedy). Her stomach is better, only with lots of snacking, she has acid. Sleep is good, now she has peaceful dreams, when she wakes up she doesn't start to grind, and if thoughts do come she can stop it. She gets some eczema spots on the shins after two months, it is rough and itchy. After three months the energy has dropped back, after a very busy time. She has also been very angry at her family once. Before, she swallowed everything, and froze, without anyone seeing. This freezing she used to have, then literally couldn't move for a while, it was horrible. She kept everything inside because if she showed that she liked something, she would be “destroyed”. From home they were always negative at her, she never got recognition. She never belonged to the family, at school, she was bullied. After that fight, she cried for the first time in 25 years, which did her good. She could only get angry to protect animals, which made her fight very long and very fiercely. For 50 years she recently had another conversation with her family, because she was “her mother's daughter” no one ever wanted anything to do with her. She is doing better, the theme of Ornithogallum is now clearer, or more clearly named. The symptoms in her head and her pelvis are now gone, she is more assertive, and no longer in the grip of the past. She stands with both feet in reality. It remains stable for a long time after this.
