Introduction
Absinthium is one of the best remedies for schizophrenia, chronic psychotic conditions where the patient lives in his own world and has little real contact with other people. They have an aversion to contact and company, they prefer they stay on their own. The reason for this is a strong fear that others will hurt them or influence them against their will. It is a strong form of paranoia. It comes often of a situation where they were threatened to be violated or even murdered, often by family members or known ones. They do not trust people, have the idea that all other people want to hurt or destroy them. They feel threatened and do not want to be touched, looked at or talked to. When others want to make contact, they act weird; give irrelevant answers or no answer at all.
Or they become irritable in words or deeds. They keep people at a distance by threatening them. The threat can be spoken or in the way they act or they can radiate their aggression. They can even be very unfeeling or cruel. But this is just an expression that they feel that others are cruel to them, that they want to hurt them. As a doctor it is difficult to get contact, the interview is awkward and one can feel threatened by them, as if one wrong question can provoke them into a rage.
