Habitat: prefers strong light, temperature of 22–28 °C.
Propagation: by dividing the rhizome or separating side shoots.

Root: rhizome remains above the substrate, tethered to litter like rocks and wood, rotting if buried beneath a substrate.
Leaves: variable form; leathery; to 30 cm long.
