Lemna minor Girl, 3.5 years oldShe has markedly enlarged adenoids. She has developed snoring and a nocturnal cough.
She is extremely sensitive to loud noises. When she hears a loud sound and someone is nearby, she immediately clings to that person and trembles with fear.
She loves being around other children. In social situations she is very submissive. If she arrives at a playground and another child starts playing, she simply imitates whatever that child is doing. Although she is older, she often copies even younger children. She approaches them, takes them by the hand, and tries to establish contact. She is not confident and waits for the other children to invite her to join them. Recently, a boy came up to her and hit her. She did not defend herself at all. When asked why, she said she had been afraid. Whenever someone behaves aggressively toward her, she simply accepts it without resisting.
If another child is crying, she feels sorry for them and shows compassion.
She has a younger sister. Because her mother devotes much of her attention to the younger child, she often feels left out. She constantly seeks her mother's attention. If she bumps herself or gets hurt, she immediately runs to her mother so that she can comfort her and "blow on it."
She has never been the type of child to throw herself on the floor, scream, or cry in frustration. She does not have temper tantrums or angry outbursts.
With adults, she is initially shy. She will approach them, but she needs some time to become comfortable. She usually holds her mother's hand and waits until she feels safe with the unfamiliar person.
During the first months of life she cried excessively and constantly needed to be carried in her parents' arms. Sleep was a major problem for approximately the first six months.
