TaxonomyIn the Apg3 classification Monotropoideae is a Subfamily in Ericaceae. Monotropaceae and Pyrolaceae was included in Ericaceae to make Ericaceae and its subfamilies monophyletic.
In the Plant theory Monotropoideae is placed in Subphase 7 in Ericales.
