Woman, 43, anal fissures.
She is a very thin 43 year old housewife, mother of three children, who comes for a consultation due to anal fissures she has had for the last six months. She appears very tense and nervous and she says that her whole life is taken over by this complaint. Passing stools is extremely painful and she is afraid to go to the toilet due to the pain. She says that she is busy day and night with this problem and has become depressed and hopeless. Freud would call it an anal fixation! She has received a salve from her proctologist but this has only made matters worse; her anus became red and itchy, a biting feeling. Botox injections also gave her no relief.
