Labor 12: The Hell Hound Cerberus.
The last task was to bring the hell hound Cerberus to Eurystheus. Hermes had to guide Heracles to the underworld. Charon took Heracles over the Styx impressed by his mighty physique. He was forbidden to carry live people and so was punished with a year's imprisonment. Heracles knows he can’t conquer Cerberus and feeds him honey cookies with poppies in them. When Cerberus falls asleep, he binds his feet together and takes him to Eurystheus. Eurystheus is terrified, so Heracles takes Cerberus back to the underworld.
With the cattle of Geryon and the Hesperides Heracles came nearer and nearer to Hades, the underworld. Here he has to enter Hades, symbol of the darkness. We see here the black hole in its full picture, which is typical of Thulium.
Going to the underworld means losing (Stage 15) your life and your self-control (Lanthanides).
