Inflorescences: dichasial corymbose cyme.
Flowers: sepals 4, toothed at apex, united at base, persistent; petals 4; stamens 4; rarely 4 staminodes also present; filaments united at base with petals; ovary 4-locular; each loculus partly divided by a false septum, 2-ovulate; styles 4, free; stigmas capitate
Fruits: 4-locular, 8-valved, lobed capsule
Seeds: small, ovoid, with little endosperm; embryo straight.
