Region: Chinese, Tibet, southeast China.
Habitat: altitudes of 600 to 2000 m
BotanyTwining vines; 3 m tall.
Root: large woody globe-shaped tuber.
Leaves: broad and palmate, triangular or triangular-ovate; dark red mark around each primary leaf vein; 4 to 7 cm by 3 to 6 cm.
Inflorescence: axillary raceme.
Flowers: bisexual; tepals five, spirally arranged; stamens 8,joined at the base; styles 3, also joined up to about the middle; nectar is produced from tissue at the base of the stamens.
Fruits: winged, three-angled achenes.
