Synonym: Sedum kamtschaticum.
Region: east Asia, Russian Far east, northern China, northern Japan
Habitat: rocky slopes; elevations from 600 to 1800 metres; moderately cold-hardy plant, tolerating temperatures to -15°c; prefers a sunny position, tolerates light shade; succeeds in most soils, prefers a moist, fertile well-drained soil; very drought tolerant; grows in crevices on walls.
Content: alkaloids, sedine and sedamine.
Ecology: immune to the predations of rabbits.
Use: food, edible leaves and young blooming stems; medicine; skin preparations; green roof systems; ornamental, ground cover.
BotanyHerb; succulent; evergreen; perennial; 20 cm tall.
Root: woody rootstock.
Stem: cluster of a few, mainly unbranched, ascending, 15 to 40 cm tall.
Pollination: by insects, butterflies.
