In the
Plant theory the
Aristolochiales are split off from
Piperales and placed in
Phase 7 of the
Magnoliidae. Splitting does not affect the monophyly of both clades. There are two families in
Aristolochiales, the
Aristolochiaceae and Lactoridaceae.
