Family
Each Species can be characterised by its Family and Stage. Each Family can be characterised by its Series and Phases. For instance Amaryllis is in Stage 12 of Amaryllidaceae. The Amaryllidaceae are member of the main clade of the Lilianae, with the emphasis Silicon series. They are in Phase 5 and Subphase 6.
So Amaryllis gets number 633.56.12, which is to be read as:
1: 6, Phylum Angiospermae.
2: 3, Silicon series, which in Angiospermae is Monocots.
3: 3, Silicon series, which in Monocots is Liliidae.
4: 5, Phase 5, which in Liliidae is Asparagales.
5: 6, Subphase 6, which in Asparagales is Amaryllidaceae.
6: 12, Stage 12.
