Family
Synonym: Sedum middendorffianum.
Region: east Asia, Siberia, Russian Far east, northeastern China, Korea.
Habitat: among rocks in forests in mountainous areas; elevations from 300 to 1000 metres; moderately cold-hardy plant, tolerating temperatures to -15°C; prefers a sunny position, but tolerate partial shade; succeed in most soils, prefer fertile and well-drained soil; drought tolerant.
Ecology: immune to the predations of rabbits.
Content: kaempferol, quercetin, myricetin, arbutin; alkaloids, tannins, cyanogenic compounds, flavanoids.
BotanyHerb; perennial; 20 cm tall.
Root: creeping, branched rhizome that becomes woody.
Stem: cluster of many erect stems that branch near the base; 10 to 30 cm tall.
Flowers: yellow.
Pollination: by insects.
Use: ornamental; green roof systems; edible leaves.
