643.11.00 Nelumbonaceae
Genera: Nelumbo; species Nelumbo lutea, American lotus; Nelumbo nucifera.
Taxonomy
This genus was in the past included in the Nymphaeaceae. Traditional taxonomists were misled by evolutionary convergences associated with an evolutionary shift from a terrestrial to an aquatic lifestyle.
In the Apg3 classification Nelumbonaceae is placed in the Order Proteales.
Introduction
The most typical aspect of the Lotus is its ability to stay clean, to let dirt slip away and not allowing it to adhere. This can be linked to Phase 1, a naïve, impulsive, pure way of just being.
