Region: Nicobar Islands, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Philippines, Celebes, Moluccas, New Guinea.
Habitat: undisturbed forests, mixed dipterocarp forests; ocassionally in peat swamp, submontane forests; on hillsides and ridges on sandy to clayey soils; secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.; 300m altitude, up to 950 m altitude, but usually below 300 m.
BotanyMid-canopy tree; up to 36 m tall.
Stem: 61 cm diameter.
Leaves: alternate, simple, penni-veined, glaucus on lower surface; stipules absent.
Flowers: pale yellow to cream; fragrant; placed on the branches below the leaves; petals ± 33 mm long.
Fruits: 15 mm long; red-purple; placed in apocarp; 1-seeded.
